Legalization

A) For those who have a valid Ethiopian Passport or Ethiopian Origin Person ID card (also know by yellow ID card)

  • If the applicant comes to the Embassy with the document, which should be legalize he/she should put his/her signature in the presence of the consular. OR, Document which is sent by post should be verified by the Authorized Notary Public
  • On the Power of Attorney form, Please write your Full name, Passport number, Nationality, Ethiopian Origin ID number and current address
  • Certificate of registration (i.e. Personbevis (Sweden), Folkeregisteret (Denmark), Folkeregister (Norway), Extract from the Population Information System (Finland), Einstaklingar (Island))
  • Applicants should have to provide a valid Ethiopian Passport/Ethiopian Origin Person ID card or sent this by post.

  • Payment for Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Education Certificate, Driving Licence:- 490 SEK, for all other than the above mentioned documents 515 SEK

N.B.In order to use any document issued by Foreign Institutions, the document  must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country before presenting to the Ethiopian Embassy for legalization.

  • If all the above mentioned are provided accordingly you will get the required service within two working days

B) For other Nationals

  • The document should be authenticated by the Authorized Notary Public and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Payment for Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Education Certificate, Driving Licence:- 747 SEK, for all other than the above mentioned documents 790 SEK
  • If all the above mentioned are provided accordingly you will get the required service within two working days.

Note: -

- Only original documents can be authenticated

- Payment is done for every seal and signature

For Applications outside Sweden

- Legalization fee, 60 SEK for Bank Transfer Charge and 100 SEK for postage fees or (according to the weight of the documents for return back as a registered mail) should be paid in advance through our Postgiro No. 629247-8 or IBAN No.  SE62 9500 0099 6026 0629 2478, SWIFT-Code NDEASESS.  

- If you enclose a pre-addressed envelope for the documents to be sent back to you, then you don’t have to pay for postage fee.

Note:- Any amount of money paid in excess of the required amount is not refundable.
