Notes:-

In November and December, legalization process may take up to ten days for application from Sweden and fifteen days from outside Sweden upon the fulfilment of the under mentioned prerequisites.

A) For Ethiopians and Ethiopian origins (those who have a valid Ethiopian Passport or Ethiopian Origin ID card (also know by yellow ID card)

If the applicant comes to the Embassy in person with the document, which should be legalize he/she should put his/her signature in the presence of the consular. There is no need of authorizing the document by the notary public.
But if the document is sent by post, it should be verified by the Authorized Notary Public
On the Power of Attorney form, Please write your Full name, Passport number, Nationality, Ethiopian Origin ID number and current address;
And attach certificate of registration (i.e. Personbevis (Sweden), Folkeregisteret (Denmark), Folkeregister (Norway), Extract from the Population Information System (Finland), Einstaklingar (Island)
Applicants should have to provide a valid Ethiopian Passport/Ethiopian Origin Person ID card or sent this by post.
Payment for Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Education Certificate, Driving Licence:- 490 SEK. For all other than the above mentioned documents the payment is 515 SEK.

In order to legalize any document by issued by Foreign Institutions, the document must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country where the document is issued before presenting to the Ethiopian Embassy for legalization.

B) For other Nationals

The document should be authenticated by the Authorized Notary Public and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Payment for Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Education Certificate, Driving Licence:- 747 SEK, for all other than the above mentioned documents 790 SEK.
If all the above mentioned are provided accordingly you will get the required service within two working days.

Notes on payment: -

Legalization fee should be paid in advance and payment receipt must be attached with the document to be legalized.
Only original documents can be authenticated.

Payment is done for every seal and signature.

Payment made from outside Sweden should include extra 60SEK for the Swedish Bank Transfer Charge. But there is no bank transfer charge for payment made from inside Sweden.

Attach payment receipt (write the full postal address of the receiver on the receipt). if you pay for some other person, write the full name of the person on the receipt to who the payment is made.
If you transfer legalization fee for one document or more than one documents at a time then bank commission will be the same (i.e. 60 SEK).
From January 10, 2010 onwards, the Embassy do not accept any payment for postage fee. So, Applicants must enclose a per- paid and pre-addressed envelope for the documents to be sent back according to the information bellow.

► Any amount of money paid in excess of the required amount is not refundable.

Postage and postage fee

As of January 10, 2010, We do not accept any payment for postage fee. Therefore, applicants must send (enclose) a pre-paid and a pre-addressed envelop. Hence;

From Sweden

Applicants must send a pre-paid and a pre-addressed envelop with
- 68 SEK stamps up to 100 grams or
- 72 SEK stamps up to 250 grams or
- 83 SEK stamps up to 500 grams or
- 94 SEK stamps up to 1000 grms, to enable us to send back your documents by registered mail to your address.

From outside Sweden

Applicant form outside Sweden must enclose a pre-addressed envelop (write the full postal address of the receiver on the envelop) with
- 9 International coupons for the weight up to 100 grams
- 11 International coupons for the weight up to 250 grams
- 14 International coupons for the weight up to 500 grams, to enable us to send back your documents by registered mail to your address.
